Sandhoff Disease:
Sandhoff disease is caused by a single missing enzyme in the brain called Hex-B. It belongs to a group of diseases called Lysosomal Storage Diseases. These Diseases are all associated the buildup of substances in the brain. These diseases have no cure and they are always fatal. The Cure-Tay Sachs foundation (CTSF) has been working tirelessly to find a cure for these diseases. In a gene therapy project that the CTSF supports, researchers have been able to CURE mice affected with Sandhoff disease. A CURE is within reach!
